Matters needing attention in butyl rubber mixing
Butyl rubber synthesized from isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene has excellent air tightness and water tightness, good chemical stability and thermal stability, and is widely used in the preparation of various inner tubes, steam pipes, water tires, dam bottom layers, gaskets and other products. When using butyl rubber to produce rubber products, due to the large cold flow of butyl rubber, the semi-finished products are relatively poor in stiffness and easy to deform, the compounding agent is not easy to disperse during rubber mixing, and the wrapping roll is poor; therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the mixing process.

China's butyl rubber imports hit record high in 2020
In 2020, China's butyl rubber import volume reached 284000 tons, a record high. Among them, the import volume of ordinary butyl rubber was 116500 tons, an increase of 38.36 over the same period of last year, and the import volume of halogenated butyl rubber was 167500 tons, an increase of 2.20.
Filtration technology of butyl inner tube
Latex reclaimed rubber and butyl reclaimed rubber in reclaimed rubber are ideal raw materials for producing inner tubes, especially butyl reclaimed rubber that can replace butyl rubber to produce butyl inner tubes. At present, many inner tube processing enterprises add appropriate proportion of butyl reclaimed rubber to butyl inner tube. The three main applications of butyl rubber
Butyl rubber (IIR) is a synthetic rubber produced by the cationic polymerization of isobutylene and isoprene under the action of a Friedel-Craft catalyst. It has excellent air tightness and good heat resistance, aging resistance, ozone resistance, solvent resistance, electrical insulation, shock absorption and low water absorption, it is widely used in inner tube, vulcanized capsule, air-tight layer, sidewall, wire and cable, waterproof building materials, shock-absorbing materials, medicinal bottle stopper, food (chewing gum base material), rubber dam, anti-virus appliance, adhesive, inner tube odd door core, anti-corrosion products, dock ship fender, bridge support pad and heat-resistant transport belt.
Introduction of butyl rubber, the main application of butyl rubber
Butyl rubber is a synthetic rubber copolymerized by isobutylene and a small amount of isoprene. It is one of the seven general synthetic rubbers (butadiene rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, nitrile butadiene rubber, neoprene, ethylene propylene rubber, butyl rubber and isoprene rubber). Its English name is Butyl Rubber, abbreviated as IIR (abbreviation of Isobutylene Isoprene Rubber). White to pale gray, odorless and tasteless; insoluble in ethanol and ether. Viscosity average molecular weight =(35-45)× l04, relative density (17 ℃/4 ℃)0.92, (27 ℃/4 ℃)0.91, refractive index 1.5078 ~ 1.508l, glass transition temperature -69 ℃, specific heat capacity 1.94kJ/(kg K), thermal conductivity 0.091W/(m.K). Isoprene chain units account for only 0.6 to 3.0 percent of the main chain, so butyl rubber is highly saturated in the chain.
The advantages of butyl rubber inner tube
After the inner tube is loaded, the air pressure is above 8MPA, and the high air tightness carcass reduces the natural gas leakage. The inflation frequency is lower than that of the natural rubber inner tube in use, and it is more fuel-efficient during driving. Butyl rubber inner tube has higher temperature resistance than natural rubber inner tube. When the car is running at high speed for a long time, the inner cavity temperature of the tire is very high, which makes the inner tube rubber quickly self-vulcanize, which affects the service life. Butyl rubber inner tube is more resistant to aging and used longer.
